Eric Gordon Has Revamped Trade Value For Contenders
At 33-years-old, many players in the NBA are beginning to plan their life after basketball, but in Eric Gordon’s case, he is playing some of the best basketball of his career!
After playing in just 27 games last season due to a groin injury and seeing his shooting percentages drop, Eric Gordon has come back this season to average 14.9 points, 3.3 assists and is not only shooting a career-best 50.5% from the floor, but he is shooting a career-high 45.5% from three-point range, currently the second-best three-point shooting percentage in the league.
Gordon’s 3.3 assists per game is also his highest mark since the 2014-15 season when he averaged 3.8 assists per game with the New Orleans Pelicans. Various teams across the league are expected to show interest in Eric Gordon at the trade deadline, but his contract remains a yellow flag for teams.
Under contract through 2023, Eric Gordon is making $18.2M this season, $19.5M next season and then $20.9M during the 2023-24 season with the final year of his contract being non-guaranteed.

Technically, a team would only be tied down to him through next season since they could opt out of his contract and waive him with no penalty, but close to $38M is still a lot to pay a 33-year-old player with a lot of mileage on his legs.
There is no denying that Eric Gordon can be a key contributor for many teams in this league given his playoff experience with James Harden and the Rockets, but his contract could definitely force some teams to look elsewhere at the deadline.
