John Wall Remains In Limbo

There will be several teams across the league willing to offer Christian Wood this type of deal in free agency following next season, which is why trading him now could make sense for the Rockets.

Moving on from John Wall’s contract is also something that makes sense for the Rockets given that they are rebuilding and do not want to pay him $91.6M through next season to sit on the bench, but trade interest in Wall has been non-existent this season.

There are several playoff contending teams that do have interest in adding John Wall to their roster, but they would like to do so after the Rockets potentially buy him out of his contract. Wall and the Rockets have not discussed terms of a potential buyout and this does not seem like something that Houston is going to look to do as of right now.

A buyout is certainly a possibility between the Rockets and John Wall, but Houston is still trying to see if there are possibilities on the trade front, specifically with the Philadelphia 76ers pertaining to a possible Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris trade somewhere in the league.

Eric Gordon and D.J. Augustin remain the two most likely players to be dealt from Houston ahead of this year’s trade deadline, but Christian Wood is expected to see a lot more interest now that Myles Turner is out indefinitely with a foot injury.

If Turner’s value begins to decline, then Christian Wood will look like the best frontcourt player on the trade market, potentially leading to the Rockets getting an offer that they cannot refuse.
