Does this trade make sense for the Cleveland Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers still have interest in bringing in another backcourt piece ahead of the trade deadline even after making a trade for veteran guard Rajon Rondo.
Caris LeVert is still a possibility as a scorer on the wing given the interest some in the Cavaliers’ front-office have in him, but pursuing a low-cost option like Dennis Schroder certainly makes sense given their biggest needs as an organization.
Other than Darius Garland, this team does not really have any other reliable backcourt pieces, even though Rajon Rondo has played well in the three games he has been with the Cavaliers.
Schroder can score, he can facilitate and most importantly, he can take a lot of pressure off of Garland to have to do everything for this backcourt. On the season, Darius Garland is making a career-best 2.6 three-pointers per game, so getting him more involved off-the-ball could be useful for a Cavaliers team that plays three 7-footers in their starting rotation.
