The Indiana Pacers are reportedly open for business ahead of the NBA trade deadline and Caris LeVert is a name that has come up a lot. LeVert is considered a borderline star talent and has been playing well this season for the most part with Indiana. One team to keep an eye on in trade talks surrounding him is the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeVert is the kind of player that a team could target to speed up their rebuild or beef up their ability to contend. He can score the ball at a high level and is capable of creating for teammates. His game still needs a lot of work, but there are many reasons to be high on him and for teams to pursue a trade for him.

According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Cavaliers are among the teams interested in making a trade with the Pacers for LeVert.

The Cavaliers are among interested teams in LeVert, those sources said, as he would provide a combo guard able to handle the ball and playmaker in the season-ending absence of Collin Sexton and Rubio.

So far this season with the Pacers, Caris LeVert has averaged 17.8 points per game to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds. He has shot 43.1 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 31 percent of his three-point attempts. LeVert needs to work on becoming a more consistent shooter, but his numbers aren’t awful.

For the Cavaliers, making a deal for a guy like LeVert would be a big help after losing Ricky Rubio. No one could replace the kind of passing and playmaking that Rubio brings to the floor, but LeVert is capable of creating for himself and teammates. It’s worth a shot for a team like Cleveland playing hard to make the postseason.

At 27 years of age, LeVert is in the prime of his career. However, he still is young in his prime and can be a piece a team could build around moving forward. The Cavaliers have other players they’re building around, but LeVert could be a nice long-term fixture especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Outside of the Cavaliers, there are likely plenty of other teams who would love to get their hands on LeVert. But, it all depends on what kind of price tag the Pacers have on him.

Expect to continue hearing rumors surrounding Caris LeVert, the Pacers, and the Cavaliers in the coming days and weeks. With the NBA trade deadline heating up, things are going to get crazy in the very near future.
