Myles Turner, Caris LeVert Both Move On From Indiana

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported back in December that the Pacers were on the verge of a rebuild and that they would not only be listening to offers for All-Star Domantas Sabonis, but Caris LeVert and Myles Turner as well.

While management and ownership has refuted this report and have said that they are not trying to rebuild, the Pacers need to make some kind of a big change this season. Indiana is just 15-26 and showing no signs of improvement outside of Sabonis and Brogdon, it is hard to imagine that this organization will find much success with the way their roster is currently constructed.

With both Turner and LeVert having one more year left on their contracts, now is the time for the Pacers to trade both of them to bring back a grand return. The Pacers do not necessarily need to “rebuild”, but they do need to try and “reboot” their roster because they have virtually no young talents and no identity right now as a franchise.

Myles Turner is one of the best shot-blockers in the league and is on a favorable contract. Making just $17.5M this season and next season, there are plenty of playoff-caliber teams that could utilize his talents and be willing to give up some valuable draft compensation for him.

As for how Myles Turner feels about a trade, it does appear that his time in Indiana is coming to an end. When talking with The Athletic’s Jared Weiss, Turner stated, “It’s clear that I’m not valued as anything more than a glorified role player here, and I want something more, more opportunity.

I’m trying really hard to make the role that I’m given here work and find a way to maximize it. I’ve been trying to the past two, three seasons. But it’s clear to me that, just numbers-wise, I’m not valued as more than a rotational role player, and I hold myself in a higher regard than that.”

It seems like Myles Turner’s mind is already on the next chapter of his career, which is one of the main reasons why the Indiana Pacers should finally be willing to trade him.

Caris LeVert has been a steady offensive weapon next to Brogdon and Sabonis, but he is nothing more than a secondary scorer on this roster. The Pacers acquired LeVert as an extension of the James Harden to Brooklyn trade that took place last season and they could easily get some impactful talents for LeVert.

The Hawks and Cavaliers are two teams that have been mentioned in recent trade rumors pertaining to LeVert and it would not come as a shock to see either one of these teams offer up some of their more valuable young talents for him.
