Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler faces a challenging recovery period after sustaining a right MCL injury during Wednesday’s NBA play-in tournament defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The injury occurred on the final play of the first quarter, casting a shadow over the Heat’s postseason prospects.

Butler, who tried to remain effective, struggled on the court, managing only 12 points on 3-for-14 shooting for the remainder of the game.

His injury significantly affected Miami’s performance, contributing to losing a 12-point halftime lead and ultimately falling 105-104 to Philadelphia.

The incident unfolded as Butler executed a fast-break layup attempt, trying to outmaneuver Philadelphia’s Kelly Oubre Jr. However, his knee buckled painfully after it seemed that Oubre inadvertently landed on it, causing Butler to collapse on the court in visible distress.

Post-game, Butler expressed concerns about his condition. “I hope that I wake up tomorrow and can still stick-and-move. Right now, I can’t say that’s the case,” he stated, revealing plans for an MRI on Thursday to assess the damage further.
