Atlanta Hawks Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Danilo Gallinari, G/F Cam Reddish, ATL 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-20 Protected in 2022, Top-18 Protected in 2023, Top-16 Protected in 2024), else two second-round picks)

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Atlanta Hawks are expected to feel out the trade market for both Danilo Gallinari and Cam Reddish ahead of the trade deadline. It really is not surprising to see the Hawks want to move on from 33-year-old Danilo Gallinari, but it is shocking to see them so willing to want to trade Cam Reddish.

At just 22-years-old, Reddish has been having a breakout season in which he is averaging 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and is shooting 40.2% from the floor, 37.9% from three-point range. The young wing has stepped up numerous times this season with key guys being out for the Hawks, but the former 10th overall pick in 2019 has been shopped around since the offseason.

Ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Hawks were aggressively marketing Cam Reddish as “available” and had several suitors interested in him, but no trades were ever agreed upon.

One of the main reasons why Atlanta could be looking to trade Reddish is because of their money problems. After agreeing to terms on long-term extensions with Kevin Huerter, Trae Young, John Collins and Clint Capela, the Hawks do not have much money leftover long-term to keep both De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish, who will both be eligible for contract extensions this upcoming offseason.

They do not necessarily want to have to pick between the two young wings, but at the same time, the Atlanta Hawks do want to capitalize on either one’s value while they can. The addition of Jerami Grant on the Hawks would surely make a splash in the Eastern Conference and he could be the perfect two-way threat for them on the wing.

As for the Detroit Pistons, they are currently 8-30 on the season and already looking ahead to the future. Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Cade Cunningham are key young talents apart of this long-term core in Detroit, but they still need to find ways to add more future value.

Cam Reddish could be a nice young addition for this roster and at the expense of taking on the final year-and-a-half of Gallinari’s contract, one that the team could eventually buy out in the offseason, the Pistons would receive a Top-20 protected first-round pick in 2022.

Should the pick convey, the Pistons would ultimately have two first-round picks this season, along with a second-round pick via Brooklyn, giving them more chances to build a sustainable young core for the future.

The Detroit Pistons are in no shape to become real contenders in the Eastern Conference yet, hence why they should be more than willing to discuss Jerami Grant trades with teams across the league. However, keeping him in the Eastern Conference may not be something they intend on doing and the Atlanta Hawks may not have the best to offer up in a potential trade.
