Would this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?

For the Dallas Mavericks, this should be a no-brainer. They’d be getting the best player in the trade by a mile. Maxi Kleber has been a big rotational piece for them, but Jerami Grant is a clear upgrade over him, and it’s not really close.

Losing Josh Green may sting a bit, but he hasn’t shown too much during his time in the NBA. It’s not that he’s not talented, he just hasn’t earned minutes over some of the veterans on the Mavericks’ roster as they attempt to compete for a playoff spot.

The same can be said for Moses Brown, who had a breakout season with the Oklahoma City Thunder last year. He averaged a near double-double with the Thunder, but now rarely sees the floor for the Mavs. A change of scenery could do him some good.

Grant would join the Dallas Mavericks and immediately act as an elite third scoring option behind Doncic and Porzingis. They could run him at small forward with Porzingis at the four, or bump Porzingis to center and play Grant at power forward.

Getting that third guy could be the key to success for the Mavs as they continue to try and take some of the pressure off of Doncic. So, while this trade makes perfect sense for Dallas, why would Detroit be interested?
