Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Jerami Grant, G Cory Joseph
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Maxi Kleber, F Josh Green, C Moses Brown, C Willie Cauley-Stein, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2026 First-Round Pick

This is an interesting trade for both sides because the Detroit Pistons would obviously not be getting the same level of talent in return. Jerami Grant is close to an All-Star-level talent, and none of the guys Detroit would be getting back is at that same level right now.

While it may make more sense for the Dallas Mavericks to offer Tim Hardaway Jr., the Pistons probably wouldn’t want that. They’re in the midst of a rebuild right now, and adding a veteran on a long, huge contract probably isn’t at the top of their to-do list.

However, getting a couple of young players and picks is. That’s what this trade would do for the Pistons.

It would see Josh Green and Moses Brown traded to Detroit, along with a couple of unprotected first-round picks. Maxi Kleber and Willie Cauley-Stein are included for salary-matching purposes.

The Mavericks would be getting a third star to put next to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, while also keeping the majority of their team intact. Cory Joseph would also be a decent option at the guard position for the Mavs.

It may seem as though the Detroit Pistons aren’t getting a ton in return, but this actually could work out in favor of both sides. Why would each team end up doing a deal like this one?
