Just days away from heading into 2022, the Philadelphia 76ers continue to deal with the same drama they were dealing with when they lost to the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs last season. The main storyline in the NBA this past offseason was where Ben Simmons would be traded to, yet the 76ers have not progressed anywhere in trade talks.

The three-time All-Star has made his intentions to be traded very clear, but Philadelphia is not going to give him up so easily and they have yet to find the right trade package that they like. Daryl Morey and this front office have remained adamant on the fact that they want All-Star-level talent(s) in return that can help them contend for a title this season, but there are very limited options for them to pursue.

John Wall in Houston and Russell Westbrook in Los Angeles could be two directions Philly looks to make a trade, but would they really want to take a chance on either of these players?

All-Stars like Pascal Siakam, Brandon Ingram, and Jaylen Brown have been involved in trade rumors recently as well, but none of these three players are expected to be on the move ahead of February’s trade deadline.

Trading Simmons is a move the Philadelphia 76ers desperately need to make, so where does this leave them?

Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and others have played well for the 76ers this season, but they are just 18-16 and do not look like the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference that they were a season ago. This team needs that third key weapon to utilize and until they get said player, they are nothing more than an average playoff team.

At this point, the 76ers may have to take the best deal that is presented to them and both the Portland Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers may have a salutation to this dilemma.

Both Portland and Indiana have struggled this season and both teams are on the outside of the playoff picture in the Western and Eastern Conference playoff pictures, respectively. Change is coming for the Portland Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers, which is why they could be the key to getting a deal done involving Ben Simmons ahead of the trade deadline this season.

Here is how we could actually see a three-team deal involving Ben Simmons go down, but it could take another team or two to actually make this trade feasible.
