Does this trade make sense for the Phoenix Suns?
Dario Saric played a key back-up role behind Deandre Ayton last season, but he is currently rehabbing from an ACL tear suffered in the NBA Finals. He may not return at all this season and with both Frank Kaminsky and JaVale McGee, the Phoenix Suns really do not need Saric anymore.
Moving the remaining $17.7M on his contract could be highly favorable to this organization, even if they are to take on Eric Gordon who is making a lot more. Dario Saric is a question mark in terms of production and his role on this team is in question given all the frontcourt help the Suns have this year.
Besides Cam Johnson and Landry Shamet on their bench, Phoenix really does not have other three-point shooting threats on the wing, which is why trading for Gordon could make a lot of sense for this team.
His relationship with Chris Paul and experiences playing with him in Houston make him well-equipped to fit in right away with the Phoenix Suns and this team would not have to worry about his production since he has scored in double-figures in all but 5 games this season.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Knicks Interested In Trade For Rockets’ Eric Gordon
Maybe he would wind up seeing less minutes in Phoenix given their depth and style of play, but Eric Gordon could continue being a high-level three-point shooting threat and someone that can hold his own on the defensive-end of the floor.
Next to James Harden and Chris Paul in Houston, Eric Gordon was the Rockets’ No. 3 option. His experiences in this role and making it deep in the playoffs could be vital to this team in their efforts to make it back to the NBA Finals this season.
