Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

If the Philadelphia 76ers could land a player of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s caliber in exchange for Ben Simmons right now, they should jump at the chance to do so.

There’s little reason to look at this NBA trade scenario and think anything other than go for it if you’re the 76ers. What Philadelphia has lacked with Simmons has been legitimate shot creation.

A one-two punch of Joel Embiid and Gilgeous-Alexander would be staggering. Gilgeous-Alexander’s pull-up and playmaking would massively open up rim-rolling opportunities for Embiid, in addition, to dump off passes on drives. Both players can flat out roast a mismatch out of a switch while being able to thrive attacking regular matchups, too.

Managing to land Shai Gilgeous-Alexander alone would be a fascinating outcome for the 76ers. Now, adding in a solid all-around player in Dillon Brooks, too? Well, that’s all the more intriguing. Philadelphia could then focus on using Danny Green’s contract in a separate deal ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
