Would this trade make sense for the Memphis Grizzlies?

The Memphis Grizzlies find themselves in an advantageous position as a franchise. The team has a clear budding superstar in Ja Morant while Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane have both shown intriguing strides in their development as players.

The next step for the Grizzlies does appear to be a trade for a star player. The question is whether Ben Simmons is the right star to be making such a move to acquire.

Before diving into the basketball factors that would be in play, it’s important to determine if Simmons would even be open to playing for the Grizzlies. He doesn’t have much choice in the immediate future, but such a large trade package being sent out would require a long-term relationship.

It’s impossible to answer for Simmons but it would be unlikely based on the preferred destinations list that has surfaced at times amid the various NBA trade rumors including his name.
