Chicago Bulls Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Coby White, F Derrick Jones Jr., C Tony Bradley, POR 2022 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)
Landing Jerami Grant would be a huge move to not only give the Bulls a fourth “All-Star-like” talent, but solidify their starting rotation. They would undoubtedly have the best starting-five in the league with the addition of Grant and given his skills on both ends of the floor, they would be an even better offensive and defensive team than they already are.
Giving up Coby White, Derrick Jones Jr. and Tony Bradley sacrifices a lot of depth that this team has, but they would still have Troy Brown Jr., Alize Johnson, Ayo Dosunmu and Matt Thomas on their bench. Still having a $5M TPE after making this deal with the Detroit Pistons, the Bulls could then add another rotational player to their roster.
Taking pressure off of both DeRozan and Vucevic, Jerami Grant would immediately become the primary defender for the Bulls and be the one to take on the assignment of guarding the opposing team’s best player. Grant is more than capable of playing this role and he is yet another scoring weapon that they could utilize.
Again, he is currently out with a thumb injury, but so far this season, Grant has averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 41.4% from the floor. This trade would give the Bulls three players averaging over 20 points per game on the season and their starting rotation would be averaging a combined 101.6 points per game, which is probably the best mark in the league.

The Detroit Pistons do not necessarily want to trade Jerami Grant given that he is the leader of their rebuild right now, but Shams Charania of The Athletic reported last week that the team is “open to a possible deal” and are interested in hearing what he is worth from other teams.
With just one year left on his contract after this season, now may be the best time for the Pistons to trade Jerami Grant, especially if they believe that they will not be able to keep him long-term. Now 27-years-old, Grant is in the prime of his career and playing the best basketball he has ever played, which is why his value in free agency come 2023 is going to be sky-high.
Coby White is another versatile, young guard the Pistons could add to their backcourt and both Derrick Jones Jr. and Tony Bradley are athletic players that could round out this team’s rotations.

Detroit is still rebuilding and with Cade Cunningham as the anchor for their team moving forward, all they need to do is continue adding high-level, athletic and young talents to their team.
They certainly do this in this trade with the Bulls and would be getting Portland’s first-round pick this year as well, so this may just be a trade that is intriguing enough for the Detroit Pistons to consider.
