Would this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
Moving on from Domantas Sabonis would not be an easy choice for the Indiana Pacers.
Sabonis is the final remaining component of the Paul George trade with Victor Oladipo long being removed from being a member of the team. Two All-Star appearances later, Sabonis has earned one more nod than Oladipo. That’s tough for a front office who made the deal to decide to move. He’s also become a fan-favorite.
One of the Pacers’ main problems is their lack of a dynamic shot creator on the perimeter. Marcus Smart brings plenty of things to the game, but that is not one of them.
Robert Williams II is a helpful player in a vacuum, too. However, there isn’t really much of a need for the Pacers to add an undersized energy big since the team would be focusing on building around Myles Turner as the team’s long-term center in this scenario.

Receiving a pair of first-round picks would be an intriguing possibility for the Pacers but the 2022 first-round pick likely would not end up being a great value pick. Sabonis would make them better and the team already is one of the play-in spots.
