Toronto Raptors Receive: C Richaun Holmes, F/C Tristan Thompson
Sacramento Kings Receive: C Precious Achiuwa, G Dalano Banton, G Goran Dragic, TOR 2022 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected through 2024; two second-round picks if not conveyed), TOR 2023 2nd Round Pick (Unprotected)

What the Sacramento Kings need right now is a fresh start. This may not be what their fans want to hear, but unfortunately, it is the truth because management has once again screwed up everything with this roster.

Financially, the Kings are right under the tax line for this season and for a team that has missed the playoffs each of the last 15 years, this is definitely not ideal! Plus, they really have not gone anywhere over the last several years, so starting over with Fox, Haliburton and Mitchell as their focal points in the backcourt needs to be a priority for the Kings right now.

Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III and Richaun Holmes should all be players the Kings are open to moving on from, especially since they could get a ton of future value for them right now.

Each of these four players could be traded for at least one first-round pick over the next few years and who knows what kind of young talents the Kings could get in return for them!

This trade with the Raptors does not offer up the best return, but Precious Achiuwa (22) and Dalano Banton (22) could be two long-term building blocks for the Kings to play around within their frontcourt and backcourt, respectively.

Goran Dragic is not a player/contract the Kings would want to take on, but he could wind up being shipped to a third team in this deal, that way Sacramento gets a draft pick for him.

Worst comes to worst, they keep him for the year and he would become a free agent at the end of the season.

Toronto’s frontcourt could use some major upgrades and right now, at 9-13, this could be the difference in them making a real playoff push this season. Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby are all high-level talents in the backcourt and on the wing, but the Raptors need steady play in the paint if they are to get back to being a well-balanced offensive/defensive team.

Adding Richaun Holmes makes them this kind of team and they would be getting even more needed depth in terms of rebounding by adding Tristan Thompson off-the-bench. If the Raptors can get away with this deal, they would be setting themselves up for a lot of success, but the Sacramento Kings may not be ready to tear everything down again.
