For 15 straight seasons, the Sacramento Kings have missed the NBA playoffs and their fans have endured years of mental pain due to this organization’s inability to build a reliable roster. Now, after firing head coach Luke Walton less than a quarter of the way through the season, Alvin Gentry is serving as the Kings’ interim head coach, making him the 11th person to serve as head coach since the start of the 2006-07 season.

De’Aaron Fox is a talented young player, as are Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell, but overall, the Kings’ problem is that they just do not have as much high-level talent as other teams in the league.

What should be their starting rotation of De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Harrison Barnes, Marvin Bagley III and Richaun Holmes is very promising and having Buddy Hield as their sixth-man off-the-bench makes the Kings look like a good team on paper, but there are too many internal problems with this team.

Both Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III are two players that could very well wind up being traded ahead of the trade deadline this season and this is really no secret to anyone across the league. Bagley and his agent have made their intentions clear that they are frustrated with Sacramento and after almost trading him in the offseason, Hield also knows he already has one foot out the door.

Keeping Richaun Holmes on a four-year, $46M deal this past offseason was big for Sacramento, but could they be having second thoughts right now about their 28-year-old big man? Holmes has not played badly, as he is averaging 15.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and is shooting 71.2% from the floor, but they do have a lot of talent in their frontcourt right now.

Richaun Holmes is joined by Alex Len, Tristan Thompson, Chimezie Metu, Damian Jones, Marvin Bagley III and Maurice Harkless in Sacramento’s frontcourt, so the Kings could realistically look to see what Holmes’ value is on the trade market.

Right now, there are no indications that the Kings are looking to move Richaun Holmes whatsoever, but they could probably get a few worthwhile offers from teams around the league. Should they be interested in hearing trade proposals for Holmes, the Toronto Raptors would probably be more than happy to discuss terms with the Kings.

Since losing Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka ahead of the 2020-21 season, the Toronto Raptors have been looking for ways to fix their frontcourt, specifically at the center position. Precious Achiuwa, Chris Boucher and Khem Birch have not been bad for them this season, but none of these three guys really seem like long-term building blocks for the Raptors.

At 28-years-old, Richaun Holmes could join the Raptors and be an immediate presence for them in the paint on both ends of the court, helping their defense get better and their offense as well. On the year, Holmes is averaging 9.9 points in the paint, the 7th best in the league, and since the Raptors rank 19th in points in the paint on the season, Richaun Holmes could give them a huge boost on offense.

Do the Toronto Raptors have what it takes to convince the Sacramento Kings to trade their starting center? Let’s take a look at a trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale that would send Richaun Holmes to Toronto.
