3. Defensive Improvements
One of the reasons the Boston Celtics have lost five of their first seven games is that their defense has been extremely poor. They are currently tied for 26th in defensive rating with the New Orleans Pelicans, a number that shouldn’t be acceptable in Boston.
Boston has two-star defenders in their starting five in Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart. Allowing teams to shoot 37.1 percent from the 3-point line, the seventh-highest percentage in the NBA is unacceptable when you have players of that caliber on the perimeter.
Anchoring the defense is Robert Williams III, who is coming into his own at the center spot. Al Horford has been a solid rim protector as well. Grant Williams gives it his all on that end of the floor as well.
For a team with so many defensive-minded players to be performing so poorly likely comes down to scheme and lineup alignment. Ime Udoka might have to shuffle things up as his current lineup is not working.

If the team goes outside of the organization, they can try and pry Harrison Barnes from the Sacramento Kings as a two-way combo forward. Thaddeus Young of the San Antonio Spurs would also help the frontcourt defense and depth.
