Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?

Seeing as they can absorb Marvin Bagley III’s contract with their $17M TPE, the Boston Celtics should definitely be willing to make this trade. Not only is Bagley a better overall talent than Grant Williams, but he can be another strong interior presence on this roster.

Boston currently ranks 13th in the league in points in the paint and 10th in rebounds per game, which is definitely not terrible whatsoever, but they can be Top-8 in both of these categories with the addition of Marvin Bagley III.

Assuming he can stay healthy, Bagley would be a great fit next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown because of how athletic he is for a power-forward.

Having a quick first step and being able to run in transition on both ends of the floor, Bagley would be the perfect “big man” to pair with Tatum and Brown, especially in pick-and-roll situations.

Whereas Al Horford is more of a patient, less-aggressive power-forward on offense, Marvin Bagley is an explosive, high-flying power-forward that could be a menace to stop next to another athletic and quick big man in Robert Williams III.

The Celtics already have a ton of talent on their roster, but they just need to put everything together. Their slow start to the season is not something to necessarily be worried about, but something does need to be done about their roster.

They cannot rely on Al Horford to be available for all 82 games this season, which is where Marvin Bagley III would come into play for them.

Using Bagley as a “Sixth-Man” type of player would be highly advantageous to Boston and to Bagley too. Being in the final year of his contract, he is going to be playing to earn himself a big deal next offseason, which is why he could be willing to take a lesser role than first imagined in Boston.

This fit could really work out for both sides, player and team, which is why the Celtics should be interested in acquiring Marvin Bagley III this season.
