Minnesota Timberwolves
While they have finished near the bottom of the league standings through the years, the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the rise and are not far off from being an actual playoff time.
That’s right you heard me! The Minnesota Timberwolves actually have a chance to make the playoffs this year.
With their “Big 3” of Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell healthy and on the floor together, Minnesota has actually played well and as a team, they got better defensively this offseason. Offensively, this team is fine, but defense is where all of their question marks are.
Patrick Beverley and Taurean Prince, two veteran additions to this team in the offseason, will help Minnesota continue to improve defensively, but so could Derrick Favors.

Between rebounding and being an aggressive shot-blocker, Favors has the experiences and ability to be an impactful role player for this Timberwolves team.
Perhaps the most important reason why the Minnesota Timberwolves may need him though is because of Towns. Their All-Star center, when healthy, is one of the best players in the league, but they do not have any depth behind him.
Naz Reid is a young center that is inconsistent and Jaden McDaniels is a lengthy, athletic talent in the frontcourt, but he is not a center. Adding Derrick Favors to this roster finally gives the T-Wolves a reliable backup option behind Towns and he can even play alongside Minnesota’s All-Star at the power forward position if they wanted him to.

Finding ways to continue improving defensively needs to be a point of emphasis for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season if they are to contend for a playoff spot and by trading for Derrick Favors, they would improve even more than they already have on that end of the floor.
