Back to contending for a title, this year’s Golden State Warriors team definitely looks stronger than they have the last two seasons, but their frontcourt is still a mess. Kevon Looney is a reliable, “glue guy” underneath for them, but James Wiseman still remains a wild card for this team on both ends of the court. 

He is currently out recovering from a knee injury, but when he returns, can Wiseman really be a championship-level center for this team? In time he definitely can, but right now, he is just a 20-year-old big man still learning in the NBA. 

Golden State loves the potential he brings and they believe in his abilities moving forward, but leveraging him for an already solidified big man like Derrick Favors could go a long way in making the Warriors a championship favorite coming out of the Western Conference. 

Rebounding has been a problem for the Golden State Warriors through the years, as they have never really had a true center that can control the boards on both ends of the floor. Favors has averaged 7.3 rebounds through the last four seasons and for his career, he has averaged 2.5 offensive rebounds per game.

Creating second-chance opportunities is what he does best on the offensive end of the floor and with sharpshooters like Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, teams cannot afford to give the Warriors any more looks than they will already have. This is why Favors can be so valuable to this team and why his fit would potentially make sense. 

Having second, third, maybe even fourth chances to score is huge for a team like the Golden State Warriors on a possession-by-possession basis and this is what Derrick Favors could potentially bring to them. They are tied down financially, but there are ways Golden State could make this trade work if they really wanted to.
