Bruce Brown – Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving being out to begin the season definitely throws Bruce Brown into a much larger role, but he was going to be in store for more minutes this year due to the fact that he was such a key asset to the Nets last season.

Brown only averaged 8.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and shot 55.6% from the floor last season, but his versatility and ability to guard multiple positions really set him apart from other bench talents on the Nets’ roster.

Brown really is just a “swiss-army-knife” type of player for the Nets because of his ability to play off of their superstars. Guys like Durant, Irving, and Harden feel comfortable allowing the 25-year-old guard to facilitate things and be a guy who can not only set screens but create second-chance opportunities for the team.

He may only be 6’4” and 200 lbs, but Bruce Brown does not back down from anyone in the league and even saw some minutes at center last season in smaller lineups for the Nets! Because of his abilities and his toughness, Brown allows the Nets to put more scoring weapons on the court and as a result, they have turned themselves into one of the best offensive teams in the league.

Being able to play numerous positions and do exactly what his Nets team needs him to do makes Bruce Brown one of the more valuable bench players in the league, even though his stats may not say so.

Last season, Brown had one of the better Win Shares and VORP (Value over Replacement Player) on the Nets roster, and this season, he is expected to once again be a difference-maker in any role his team needs him to play.
