How This Trade Impacts Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings have been looking to move Buddy Hield for a while now. In this hypothetical deal, they find a taker in the Denver Nuggets and come away feeling great about the package.
This trade helps them balance out their roster. The team has used their first-round pick on a point guard each of the last two seasons on Tyrese Haliburton and Davion Mitchell. With De’Aaron Fox already entrenched as the starting point guard, the team will be using plenty of two-point guard lineups.
As a result, Hield would be pushed out of position on the wing. Swapping him out for Will Barton would give the Kings a versatile player to plug right into the wing position. That would enable them to push Harrison Barnes to the starting power forward spot alongside Richaun Holmes.
Barton would give Sacramento another playmaker in their starting five to keep the offense moving. While not as good a 3-point shooter as Hield, Barton has made strides in that area, knocking down 37.5 percent of his attempts during the 2019-20 season and a career-high 38.1 percent last season.

He chips in across the board and would be a nice upgrade for the Kings. JaMychal Green is a solid addition as well, giving the team some much-needed depth in the frontcourt.
Green could be looking at significant minutes at the power forward spot, especially if Marvin Bagley III continued to struggle. Green would bring some defensive versatility and great floor-spacing offensively, something they are missing from the frontcourt outside of Barnes.

This is a trade that the Kings would do in a heartbeat. Their rotation is solidified and lengthened with this deal, improving their odds of making a run at a postseason spot.
