Denver Nuggets Receive: G Buddy Hield, G/F Terence Davis
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Will Barton, F JaMychal Green
In this particular NBA trade scenario, the Sacramento Kings would be moving on from Buddy Hield and sending him to the Denver Nuggets.
There isn’t a need to include Will Barton in the starting lineup when Jamal Murray is healthy with Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon now in the mix. By moving on from Barton, the Nuggets would land a starting shooting guard that can slot in next to Murray in the backcourt.
Hield is set to earn just under $22.5 million during the 2021-22 season. While that is a value that Hield is highly unlikely to produce enough to meet, his contract for the following two seasons is descending in value where he will earn $20.5 million in 2022-23 and $18.6 million in the final year.
By trading for Will Barton, the Kings would take back Barton, who is only under contract through 2022-23. He is also set to earn substantially less than Hield as he will earn $15.6 million this season and just below $14.4 million in the final year.
