Does this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?
There are few big men that can truly impact a game down low. Karl-Anthony Towns has the ability to do that and take his game outside. He is the prototypical big man in today’s NBA. The benefit for the Atlanta Hawks is simple in this deal if they can pull the trigger.
A front office can be aggressive after having a taste of success. That is why Atlanta had this season and it was a bit ahead of their time. The Hawks showed that aggressive nature last offseason and it seems to pay off. That could happen again here.
Young and Towns would be an elite duo on the perimeter in the pick-and-toll game. Towns also has the ability to pop out for a shot from beyond the arc. This is a move that shows Atlanta is interested in staying near the top and winning right away.
Towns may not be the most impactful of defenders but again, his ability to score from anywhere on the floor when paired with Trae Young would form an incredible one-two punch. This duo would give defenses nightmares having to slow down an elite pick-and-roll combination.
