Does this trade make sense for Minnesota Timberwolves?
Given all the trade rumors with Ben Simmons, it is hard to speculate the future of the Timberwolves right now, especially in the sense of including guys like Malik Beasley in trade rumors, but this is not that bad of a trade for Minnesota.
Tomas Satoransky is a proven veteran guard who could fill a need for another primary ball-handler in the Timberwolves’ rotations this upcoming season and they really do need another frontcourt piece, which is why Jaxson Hayes makes sense. Malik Beasley has been a really solid contributor for Minnesota since joining them, but they do not necessarily need him.
D’Angelo Russell missed most of last season, allowing Beasley to step up into a bigger role than imagined, and Jaylen Nowell looks like a really solid off-ball guard in the Timberwolves system.
He averaged 9.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and shot 42.4% from the floor last year, but the most impressive part of Nowell’s development is how well he played in Summer League.

In four Summer League games for the Timberwolves, Jaylen Nowell averaged 22.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and shot 44.4% from the floor, 35.5% from three-point range. It is just Summer League, but he has been very impressive in showcasing his abilities, proving that he can be a key shooting guard in Minnesota’s rotations.
Moving Malik Beasley opens up more playing time for Nowell, as well as Josh Okogie as well. Plus, the Timberwolves have Taurean Prince now, who they will look to utilize, so Anthony Edwards will likely be spending some more time at the shooting guard position instead of Beasley.

This really is not a bad trade in terms of value for the Timberwolves, but they may not be willing to give up two second-round picks and Malik Beasley to the New Orleans Pelicans. The terms of the deal can be sorted out, but overall, adding Satoransky and Hayes for Beasley is not terrible.
