Does this trade make sense for New Orleans Pelicans?
Overall this is actually a really decent trade for the New Orleans Pelicans, especially since Malik Beasley is only 24-years-old and has looked great in his short time with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Since joining them in the middle of the 2019-20 season, Beasley has averaged 19.9 points per game in a Timberwolves jersey and has shot 40.6% from three-point range.
Devonte’ Graham is a high-level three-point shooter the Pelicans added this offseason, but they really do not have other reliable shooters. New Orleans ranked 26th in the league last season in three-point shooting and they are going to need other perimeter threats on their roster if they are to be a playoff team in the Western Conference, which is why adding Beasley makes sense.
The players they would be giving up really would not hurt the Pelicans either. Satoransky has not played a game in a Pelicans jersey and they have others in Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kira Lewis Jr. to fill his spot in the rotations.

As for Jaxson Hayes, the Pelicans recently brought back Willy Hernangomez and they now have Jonas Valanciunas, so Hayes’ role would not be much greater than it was last season anyways.
The best part about this deal for New Orleans though is the fact that they do not lose a first-round pick.
Moving two role players/bench guys and a second-round pick for Beasley and two second-round picks would be a massive win for the New Orleans Pelicans front-office, which is why this trade makes complete sense for them to make and pursue.
