This Suns-Timberwolves trade is centered on Karl-Anthony Towns to Phoenix

Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?

The Minnesota Timberwolves have plenty of options this offseason. They have fallen far in the standings and look like they will be unable to move up anytime soon. If this is the case, it is time to retool once again. 

D’Angelo Russell was brought to Minnesota and is the reason the Timberwolves do not have a first-round pick this year. They would land one in this deal. Even though it is lower in the first round, it is beneficial in a deep class such as this one.

Ayton would serve as an intriguing replacement for Karl-Anthony Towns down low given his age and progression to this point. He is another No. 1 overall pick for the Timberwolves to rely on. 

The Suns would also land a few role players in Jae Crowder and Dario Saric along with a few draft assets. Rounding out the supporting cast around Anthony Edwards is something that Minnesota needs to get done and this is an NBA trade scenario that would help.

Minnesota has plenty of trade pieces, such as Russell and Malik Beasley. Out of them all, Towns is the one that warrants the biggest return and could help the most in the rebuild.
