San Antonio Spurs
The developmental potential that the San Antonio Spurs provide is what lands them on this list. There aren’t many teams in the NBA that are as good at developing players as the Spurs are.
No matter how raw a prospect is, the Spurs have a great track record of developing them. Could Kristaps Porzingis be the next player they are able to coax immense potential out of?
What the Spurs were trying to do with LaMarcus Aldridge, turning him into a floor-stretching big, Porzingis already excels at. He is a 36.1 percent shooter from the 3-point line in his career and made 37.6 percent of his attempts this past season.
He has scored at least 20 points per game in three consecutive seasons as well, which would help offset all the scoring the Spurs have entering free agency.
Defensively, Porzingis is lacking, especially in the pick-and-roll as his lateral quickness is poor. The Spurs have been a great defensive team for years, so they will be able to find a role for Porzingis on that end of the court that will mitigate his shortcomings.
