6. Mavericks Throw In The Towel On Kristaps Porzingis
When the Dallas Mavericks acquired Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks, many people thought it was the steal of the century. The Knicks have just thrown the towel in on their young franchise cornerstone rather abruptly and the Mavericks now have a suitable sidekick for Luka Doncic.
Fast forward to the present day and that trade isn’t looking as lopsided. The Mavericks have reportedly talked to the Golden State Warriors about a trade centered around Porzingis and Kelly Oubre Jr. at the trade deadline. The partnership is barely two years old but already seems to be on the outs.
The Mavericks will find a suitor for Porzingis this offseason. The Warriors, Charlotte Hornets or Washington Wizards will acquire him depending on how their respective offseasons shake out.
5. New York Knicks Upgrade PG
The New York Knicks are in desperate need of a point guard upgrade this offseason. They will accomplish just that with some help from that Porzingis trade mentioned above.
New York will ultimately be unwilling, and rightfully so, to include RJ Barrett in a trade offer for Damian Lillard. They will learn their lesson from the Carmelo Anthony trade and not give away the farm. Instead, they will land Collin Sexton from the Cleveland Cavaliers at a fraction of the price.

Unwilling to pony up the money Sexton is hopeful to receive on an extension, the Knicks swoop in and get him by using the extra selection from the Mavericks as the centerpiece of the deal. Sexton fits the mold as a downhill, attacking point guard for Tom Thibodeau’s offense, giving the Knicks a much-needed scoring threat alongside Julius Randle and Barrett.
