Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Marcus Smart
Boston Celtics Receive: G Jalen Brunson, F/C Maxi Kleber, 2024 first-round pick

Following the trade of Kemba Walker to kick start the offseason, the Boston Celtics have a glaring need at the point guard position.

Unless the team views Marcus Smart as their starting point guard moving forward, then they currently have Payton Pritchard, Carsen Edwards, and Tremont Waters as the only point guards on the roster.

With that in mind, the Dallas Mavericks could send over Jalen Brunson to help the Celtics address the vacancy in their back court.

In the Walker trade, Boston was able to reunite with Al Horford, giving them someone to start in the frontcourt alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Behind Horford, the Celtics have Tristan Thompson, Robert Williams, and Moses Brown as their backup centers.

Seeing that none of them are capable of spacing the floor, Maxi Kleber would be a welcomed addition to their rotation. A future first-round pick would also be included in hopes to convince the Celtics to agree to the deal.

Let’s take a look at how this NBA trade scenario centered around Marcus Smart would impact both the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks.
