Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?

If there really is no market for Kyle Kuzma this offseason and his value is not as high as many believe it could be, then the Lakers could actually get a ton of value out of this trade for Terrence Ross. Now, I know the Lakers won a championship with Kuzma and that he is a bright, young talent, but he does seem to look lost at times on offense with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Whether or not you believe Ross is the right replacement is a matter of opinion, but Terrence Ross has the numbers to back up his value to a playoff contending team. Bench points are extremely valuable in the NBA and Ross is one of the best bench players a team can have.

Lakers’ fans will obviously want to see their team going after big names like Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard, but Terrence Ross is more than capable of being a secondary scorer next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

He is a starting wing that is more than capable of scoring 14+ points off-the-bench every single night, which is why the Lakers could immediately fit him into their rotations for 30+ minutes per game. Terrence Ross is a very undervalued, experienced talent in this league and given the opportunity, he can prove to be an essential piece to a championship-caliber team.

At this point, given that Kyle Kuzma’s value is not close to that of a high-level/All-Star-caliber player’s value, getting a player like Terrence Ross is probably the best the Lakers can do, which is why making this trade with Orlando makes sense for them.

The Lakers have virtually no ways to add more talent to their roster since they are tied down financially and since they do not have any real trade assets, which is why adding Ross to their roster at the expense of Kuzma is a good deal for Los Angeles.
