From 2007-12, Stan Van Gundy was the head coach of the Orlando Magic and this franchise was a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference. Yes, the same head coach who was just fired after one NBA season in New Orleans was coaching a powerhouse team in the Eastern Conference and they were led by Dwight Howard, the same guy who is now a bench player for the Philadelphia 76ers.

It is crazy how different things can be in a matter of several years in this league and the Orlando Magic are a great example of this. The Magic went to the playoffs all five seasons in which SVG was their head coach and Dwight Howard was their leader on the floor, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 2009.

Since Van Gundy was fired following the 2011-12 season, the Magic have gone filtered through five different people acting as head coach and have collectively gone 253-466 (35.1%).

Now, long-time Mavericks assistant coach Jamahl Mosley will be the next head coach of the Orlando Magic after agreeing to a four-year contract with the team.

Mosley inherits a very young team that is currently going through a rebuild. The Magic traded away All-Star Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fourneir and Aaron Gordon at the NBA trade deadline this past season, thus entering yet another era in which they will try to find playoff glory once again.

In doing so, not only will Orlando be looking to gather young talents and draft picks over the next few years, but they will do so by leveraging some of their older players. Terrence Ross is now 30-years-old and with two years remaining on his contract, he is likely a player the Magic will be looking to deal this offseason.

The past few seasons have been some of the best of Ross’ career, which is why he could actually draw a fair amount of interest on the trade market this offseason. One team that could very well be interested in adding his talents in pursuit of more championships this offseason is the Los Angeles Lakers.

After losing in the first-round of the playoffs this year to the eventual Western Conference Champions in the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to add more talent to their roster this offseason. Could Terrence Ross be a realistic, low-priced option for them to consider?

Let’s take a look at a proposed trade from Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes that would send Ross to the bright lights of Los Angeles.
