Lonzo Ball
If the Miami Heat goes the trade route to fill their point guard spot, Lonzo Ball would be an excellent target. Ball is a restricted free agent, so a sign-and-trade with the New Orleans Pelicans would benefit both sides.
Miami doesn’t have a first-round pick to offer until 2024, but building a package around Tyler Herro could do the trick. The Pelicans could use some help on the wing, specifically at shooting guard, and Herro would help fill that hole. At only 21-years old, he would provide another potential building block for the franchise.
For Miami, Ball would give the team the playmaking they were sometimes lacking beyond Jimmy Butler. His shooting ability would be welcomed with open arms, as Ball has developed into a threat from the 3-point line.
He has connected on at least 37.5 percent of his 3-pointers in each of the last two seasons. Ball and Duncan Robinson, if re-signed, would clear the way for Butler and Bam Adebayo to operate inside the arc. While he won’t put much pressure on opposing defenses by attacking the basket, Ball can no longer be left open behind the 3-point line.

Defensively, he would help at the point of attack. He is a huge upgrade on Dragic and Nunn on that side of the court as his length and athleticism allow him to defend multiple positions.
