Why the Golden State Warriors make this trade
The Golden State Warriors are hopeful that Klay Thompson can return to form after missing the previous two seasons because of injury. Even if he does, it won’t be long before the Warriors’ core begins to lose a step.
Thompson and Draymond Green are both going to be 31 this season, while Stephen Curry will be 33. Golden State needs to start planning for the future and Brandon Ingram could be a part of that plan.
Ingram, as mentioned earlier, will only be 24 when this season begins. He is good enough to help the Warriors win with their original core in place but young enough that he can help usher in a new era of Warriors basketball.
On the court, he would be a huge upgrade on Andrew Wiggins. You won’t find many third options better than Ingram offensively, who has turned into a bonafide scorer with New Orleans, averaging 23.8 points per game there. He has also averaged 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists, as he provides a lot more than just scoring.

Defensively he would give the Warriors another great perimeter weapon to help take pressure off of Thompson, who last played in an NBA game during the 2019 finals.
While the cost is relatively steep, Ingram would be a great addition to the present and future of the Warriors franchise.
