Getting Luka Doncic some help is of the utmost important this offseason for the Dallas Mavericks. Amid the turmoil on the coaching staff and in the front office, all of that can be forgotten by fans if the team has a successful offseason.

First and foremost, the Mavericks need to move on from Kristaps Porzingis, maybe landing them a star player in the process. At the least, a Porzingis trade can create cap space for Dallas to make more moves.

One move that the Mavericks should consider is pursuing a trade for Russell.

While Doncic will always be the primary ball handler, adding a point guard that can take some pressure off of him would be great moving forward.

D’Angelo Russell can provide the Mavericks with more scoring on offense and he’s a streaky shooter that wouldn’t ruin the team’s spacing. Acquiring Russell and another star player this summer would be a fantastic start for the new regime in Dallas.
