New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are faced with a decision on Lonzo Ball this offseason. Does the team let him walk in free agency? Should they match any offer another team may extend to Ball? Or do they complete a sign-and-trade with Ball?

If the Pelicans decide to move on from Ball, they have to make sure they are able to replace him at the point guard position.

Under the assumption of Ball being gone, D’Angelo Russell would make a viable replacement for New Orleans. The Pelicans need a point guard that is capable of hitting outside shots, and Russell is more than capable of obliging in that area.

They also need someone who isn’t going to take too many possessions away from Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.

While D’Angelo Russell would be a better fit elsewhere, there are much worse landing spots for Russell via trade than the Pelicans.
