Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
Trading away a young All-Star in Jaylen Brown is never an easy decision to make, but acquiring Beal would help push the Celtics back toward the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.
While they would lose something defensively swapping Brown out for Beal, those losses would be mitigated by the improvements the offense would have. Beal gives the Celtics a bonafide superstar that can score at will.
Beal averaged 31.3 points per game this past season, which followed up an impressive 30.5 points per game average from the 2019-20 season. That extra scoring punch is exactly what Boston needs, as they were sometimes over-reliant on Tatum to bail them out on that end of the floor.
The former Florida Gator has also shown that he is a more than capable playmaker, an area Brown has been improving at but another thing Beal would upgrade. He would take pressure off of the point guard as the sole playmaker and help get his teammates into spots they can succeed.

This trade takes away some of the team’s depth, but Boston should have no problem finding veterans that want to latch on with a team that looks like they can contend in the Eastern Conference.
