The Philadelphia 76ers had as disappointing an end to the 2020-21 season as any team in the NBA. Despite having the home-court advantage, they were defeated in the second round of the playoffs by the upstart Atlanta Hawks in seven games.
The loss led to a lot of speculation that Ben Simmons could be traded away this offseason. The All-Star struggled offensively, again, his confidence was shattered. He set a record for the lowest free throw percentage in NBA Playoff history.
With his value so low, it is unlikely that Philadelphia would trade him this offseason. Instead, they should run it back one more time and tweak the roster a little bit.
While Simmons’ offense turns into a huge liability in crunch time, he is already an elite defender, playmaker and rebounder.
