3 potential NBA free agency targets for the Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers, NBA Trade Rumors

The Philadelphia 76ers had as disappointing an end to the 2020-21 season as any team in the NBA. Despite having the home-court advantage, they were defeated in the second round of the playoffs by the upstart Atlanta Hawks in seven games.

The loss led to a lot of speculation that Ben Simmons could be traded away this offseason. The All-Star struggled offensively, again, his confidence was shattered. He set a record for the lowest free throw percentage in NBA Playoff history.

With his value so low, it is unlikely that Philadelphia would trade him this offseason. Instead, they should run it back one more time and tweak the roster a little bit.

While Simmons’ offense turns into a huge liability in crunch time, he is already an elite defender, playmaker and rebounder.

While everyone focuses on what the team should do with Ben Simmons, Daryl Morey and the front office are hard at work determining who they could target to help get the team over the hump. They have not yet advanced beyond the second round since “The Process” began churning out winning regular seasons.

Finding good complements in free agency will be key to the team breaking through in the postseason. Who could help them accomplish that? Here are three potential free agency targets for the 76ers this offseason.
