#1 Lonzo Ball – Restricted Free Agent

The best point guard option for the New York Knicks this offseason may come as a surprise to some, but it is Lonzo Ball. The 23-year-old guard is a restricted free agent this offseason, meaning that the Pelicans can match any offer for him in free agency, but as of right now, he seems to be a key target for the Knicks, per the latest NBA rumors.

Given how young he is and his ability to be a factor on both ends of the floor, Lonzo Ball is the perfect point guard target for the Knicks this offseason. The fact that he has made tremendous strides in being a scorer offensively is also a major plus with Ball.

He shot a career-high 37.8% from three-point range this year and he has only got better as a shooter every year he has been in the league. Many people tend to undervalue Ball because they do not like his dad and they have a certain opinion about his character, but Lonzo is a really soft-spoken guy and just does his job.

He can facilitate, he is a terrific defender, and he can finally knock down jump shots from the perimeter, so why would the Knicks not want Ball to be their point guard moving forward? Derrick Rose is just a temporary plan for them and is on the back-end of his career, which is why New York is going to be looking to add a young point guard that they can build with.

One of the best aspects of Lonzo Ball’s game that goes under noticed and underappreciated at times is his ability to play defense. He is a very effective one-on-one defender and is a very disruptive defender in passing lanes.

The Knicks are a very young basketball team with a lot of potential to grow for the future, which is why they need a young leader at the point guard position. Lonzo Ball does a little bit of everything to help his team win games, which is why he is the best option for the Knicks this offseason in the backcourt.
