Youth is on his side
A team that is seemingly in win-now mode as the Clippers have to get creative when it comes to adding younger talent to the roster. If Miami has soured on a lottery pick from 2019 already, this represents a great opportunity to pounce.
Tyler Herro saw his statistics increase in his second season in the NBA, but his efficiency waned as he was painfully inconsistent.
Part of the reasoning for that could be Miami just asking too much of a second-year player. With injuries ravaging the Miami Heat’s roster throughout the season, Herro was asked to shoulder a lot of responsibility and he just may not have been ready for it.
Herro turned only 21 in January, so he still has plenty of time to develop and hone his skill set. His defense is a major question mark, but he has the size and athleticism to improve on that side of the court.

Another thing that comes with youth is an affordable contract. Herro still has two years remaining on his rookie deal, which would give the Clippers some much-needed salary-cap flexibility.
