Does this this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
The Minnesota Timberwolves is one of the worst teams in the league and it has been this way for years. They have qualified for the postseason just once since drafting Town with the first-overall pick in 2015. The Timberwolves have attempted to add pieces but they have been unable to put a winning product on the floor.
The Timberwolves drafted Edwards and made a deal for D’Angelo Russell, who has also been featured in rumors. This is why their first-round pick this year is with the Golden State Warriors.
Here is a chance for Minnesota to get a pick back. It will not be as high as their original pick but something is better than nothing. Caldwell-Pope is not a long-term piece and would now put Minnesota in a hole.
The Timberwolves would either be able to flip Caldwell-Pope or let him go next year. Malik Beasley has great trade value and if they can get a first-round pick for him, it seems like a win. Minnesota would be getting off of Beasley’s deal long-term since Caldwell-Pope is entering the final year of his contract.

This would not be the lone move for the Timberwolves this offseason. A rebuilding team needs to explore all of their options and this is one of those deals to keep an eye on.
