Dallas Mavericks Receive: C Karl-Anthony Towns, G Jarrett Culver
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Kristaps Porzingis, Josh Richardson, Josh Green, 2022 first-round pick, 2024 first-round pick
It’s no secret that the Dallas Mavericks want to move on from Kristaps Porzingis as soon as possible following the team’s first-round exit in the playoffs.
When the team first acquired Porzingis, they had the idea of him playing a similar role to Dirk Nowitzki, even though he was no where near the level of player that Nowitzki was. Nevertheless, the Mavericks have found out that Porzingis just isn’t an ideal match alongside Luka Doncic.
Maybe, even amid the injury woes and inconsistent play that Porzingis has shown in recent seasons, the Timberwolves could help him find his groove again. Being traded to a team like Minnesota could force Porzingis to commit to working tirelessly to get back to where he once was. The Timberwolves would also get Josh Richardson, Josh Green, and two first-round picks in the deal, making it an enticing offer.
On the other side of the trade, the Mavericks would receive a player that would be electric alongside Doncic in the offense. Having to guard Doncic and Towns in pick-and-roll/pick-and-pop situations would be a nightmare for opposing teams.

Even though Dallas has seen familiar faces depart the franchise already this offseason, being able to land Towns in a trade would be a massive success. And for the Timberwolves, getting key pieces like Porzingis and two future first-round picks can help them build for life after Towns.
