New York Knicks Receive: C Karl-Anthony Towns and G Malik Beasley
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F/C Julius Randle, C Mitchell Robinson, F Kevin Knox, 2021 first-round pick, and 2023 first-round pick
The point of this article is to discuss trades that Minnesota should pursue for Towns this summer, which means they should be asking for big-name players in every trade.
The New York Knicks have long been considered a possible landing spot for Towns, especially with Leon Rose — the team president of the Knicks — having a long relationship with Towns. Rose was an agent before he joined New York’s front office and he represented Towns when he came into the league.
It was a positive year for the Knicks, with the NBA’s Most Improved Player in Julius Randle having a career year in his second season in New York. Despite Randle’s performance in the regular season, he showed in the playoffs that he may not be the player the Knicks want to build around for the future.
There’s no question that Towns would be an upgrade over Randle, and New York can offer a few more pieces in the trade. Along with Randle, the Knicks could ship Mitchell Robinson and Kevin Knox to the Timberwolves, with Minnesota hoping they can develop both players more than New York has thus far.

But what makes the deal even sweeter for the Timberwolves is the two first-round selections they would receive from the Knicks. Besides Rose, Towns also has a past relationship with Tom Thibodeau, making New York an intriguing destination for Towns in the future.
