Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
The Washington Wizards were able to get over the hump and into the postseason this year but it seem to be a bit of a fluke. They rode the star power that they had on the roster but that is all they had. Russell Westbrook is not a long-term piece with the Wizards and Bradley Beal could also end his tenure soon.
The Wizards signed Davis Bertans to an extension in the offseason. He is another member of the team that could be traded right away. Washington needs to look to add some young players if they want to build something for the future. Mo Bamba is one of those players.
There are some instances where a player could just use a change of scenery and that is what is happening here. Between having to play behind Nikola Vucevic and now Wendell Carter Jr., Mo Bamba just hasn’t quite managed to receive a fair shot.
The Wizards will be able to develop him and give him a significant playing time, which could help him take the next step. If both Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal stick around, Bamba could thrive as a roll man and play finisher while providing needed rim protection.

This is not the blockbuster move that is going to get Washington closer to a championship but it would help them continue to rebuild. The front office has to make some bigger but this could be a small move that is on the horizon.
