Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
Mo Bamba was never able to get going with the Orlando Magic since being drafted. This is because of his injuries and a lack of opportunity. A different opportunity could be what he needs and the Washington Wizards could provide that.
Orlando is a rebuilding team that decided to sell at the NBA trade deadline. However, the decision to move Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls brought in Wendell Carter Jr., which certainly does not clear room for Bamba to thrive at the five spot.
After two straight postseason appearances, the Magic blew up this year. Markelle Fultz went down with a torn ACL and the team went toward a rebuild. When they began going down, they decided to sell. That can continue moving forward by unloading some young players with value.
Mo Bamba appears to be a prime trade candidate at this point. If the Magic can get a first-round lock in return, this deal is one that can work in their favor.
