Washington Wizards Receive: C Mo Bamba

Orlando Magic Receive: C Thomas Bryant and 2022 first-round pick (top 5 protected)

Mo Bamba is a former lottery pick of the Magic. He struggled with injuries early on and could not get his career off the ground. Bamba has began staying on the floor bit more consistently and could still benefit from a change of scenery. This is what he would get in a trade such as this one.

Orlando collect squeeze out any value left surrounding Bamba. If they were to send him to Washington, they might be able to get a first-round pick next year’s draft. If this is the return, the Magic should jump at the possibility.

It does not seem as though Mo Bamba is a long-term fit for the Magic and would benefit from a trade. Wendell Carter Jr. could very well be the five of the future for Orlando if the team chooses to embrace him in that way.

During the upcoming season, Bamba will be entering the final year of his rookie contract. He will earn roughly $7.6 million and will be a restricted free agent next offseason. Pursuing him is a worthwhile gamble for a team like the Wizards, especially with his restricted free agency.

The Magic do not need to keep Bamba’s contract around if he is not the answer at the five spot. He has been around since 2018-19 and it just hasn’t resulted in a difference-making outcome.

Let’s take a look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around Mo Bamba would impact both the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards.
