Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
Oklahoma City Thunder took on Kemba Walker but it would be surprising to see this be a long-term move for the organization. Walker is under a large contract and that is not something that a rebuilding team should take on. This is why it makes sense for Oklahoma City to make a move like this one.
The return would land them two veteran options that would not handcuff the front office. Both Steven Adams and Eric Bledsoe are short-term options moving forward. Oklahoma City would also be able to keep their first-round picks. They would have to part ways with some second-round draft capital.
In the NBA, that is nothing to worry about. The Thunder are in a position to keep their financial situation under control and keep loading up on assets. Taking on a pair of veteran players who have much smaller contracts than Kemba Walker can help to collect more assets down the road.
Even if Steven Adams were to remain in Oklahoma City, he is already has great familiarity with the organization and the community. He could be prove to be a helpful member of the team-culture for the young prospects the team adds through the NBA Draft.

That is what Thunder GM Presti would be able to do here. This would be an interesting deal to keep Oklahoma City moving forward and pair Walker with some other stars elsewhere.
