Does this trade make sense for the Utah Jazz?
The Utah Jazz are one of a few teams around the league that have had a disappointing finish to the season. After finishing with the best regular season record in the NBA, they failed to get the job done in the Western Conference Semifinals.
There will be plenty of options for the Jazz. Utah could decide to make a big move to build more around Donovan Mitchell moving forward with a more perimeter oriented supporting cast. Gobert could turn into one of the biggest trade pieces for the franchise because of the return that he would warrant.
Charlotte could send the Jazz one of its guards to pair with Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt. Terry Rozier has proven to be a dynamic scorer and can take over a game when needed. Gordon Hayward would also be moved and this would help Charlotte by unloading the contract.
Rudy Gobert is a pivotal element to the Jazz as the anchor of the defense. He is a floor raising talent that can help to rack up substantial regular season win totals. However, his offensive limitations are too much to overcome for the cost of his contract.
