It was another disappointing ending to the season for the Utah Jazz once again. They have arrived as one of the top teams in the NBA but have been unable to advance to the Western Conference Finals. This could be a chance for the franchise to make some big moves in the offseason in hopes of retooling the roster moving forward.

Utah finished with the top record in the league this season. Donovan Mitchell is a legitimate superstar and showed that over the course of the season. For the second year in a row, the Jazz were eliminated after blowing a lead in the postseason.

A year ago in the NBA Bubble, Utah blew a 3-1 lead to the Denver Nuggets in the first round. This year, the Jazz won the first two games in the second round against the Los Angeles Clippers before losing four in a row.

The Jazz have their top two players locked up in Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert but that does not mean they are untouchable. Gobert has limitations that are tough to overlook for the cost of his massive contract. If moving him is on the table, there could be a trade partner that lines up with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets were an improved bunch this year and it was largely in part because of LaMelo Ball, who was named Rookie of the Year. Charlotte is strong in the backcourt after the addition of Ball and could look to balance the lineup with improvements in the frontcourt.

Charlotte has a chance to be a postseason contender in the Eastern Conference next season, especially if it decides to make some big moves in NBA free agency or the trade market. The Hornets will undoubtedly be a team to monitor in NBA trade rumors this offseason.

This is one trade centered around Rudy Gobert that could be a blockbuster waiting to happen. Let’s take a look and see what a deal between the Charlotte Hornets and Utah Jazz might look like.
